Billy Joel is a Jerk

So, 50,000 people or whatever bought tickets to a Billy Joel concert thinking they were going to see the last concert ever at Shea Stadium, and now they are only going to see the second-to-last concert ever at Shea. Nice. What a jerk.

Oh really ? Let's see how many people ask for a refund. He tried to please all the fans who couldn't get tickets for the first show by adding another, and that was the only open date that the Mets organization gave them. He's still the last music act to play at Shea.so the'Last Play at Shea' is appropriate for either night. Nowhere did any ad say 'One Night Only' or 'Final Show' or 'Only New York Appearance'. And Joel did say at the press conference that there could be other shows if the ticket demand was overwhelming- which it was- and if the Mets schedule had another day available for a concert-which turned out to be two days after the first one. That does not make Billy Joel a jerk. Stop calling people names when you don't know what you're talking about.

I have to agree that this was mishandled. Billy should have scheduled the later date first, then added dates forward, if that makes sense. People bought tickets under the premise it was the last show, and now that's no longer the case.

I just found your site, I was born and grew up in Marietta, GA, about 20 miles north of Atlanta, but have been a diehard Mets fan since I was about 7 years old. Watched the Mets every chance I got on ESPN and WWOR (superstation), now I follow the team on SNY with DirecTV, as soon as I was old enough I drive to NYC and went to a mets game at Shea. Guess I'm a misplanted Mets fan lol.

Maybe so, but what has this got to do with the Mets?

Well, this proves one thing for sure. You're obviously not man enough to post a cohesive rebuttal to your comments, or to admit that you made a mistake and you were wrong. Grow up Mike.

What from the comments am I supposed to rebut? The people who bought tickets to Wednesday night's show were ripped off. Not only was the show now only The Second To Last Concet ever at Shea, but the people who went to Friday's show saw a much better line-up of special guests, including a close-out performance by Paul Friggin McCartney.

I am not wrong - I'm vindicated!
