Around Baseball

Scott Kazmir pitched really well today for the Devil Rays, coming to within an out of a complete game, while outpitching Roy Halladay and beating the blue Jays 5-2. He's now 1-1 on the season, while Zambrano, the guy he was traded for, pitches for the first time on Thursday against the Nationals, who got beat by Andy Pettite and the Astros today.

The Braves got beat today by the Giants, 6-5,with Chris Reitsma blowing a save in the ninth to lose the game. Smoltz pitched well, but the Braves fall to 3-4 on the season. Barry Bonds went 1 for 7 in the series, with six walks and no homers. Chipper Jones sprained his ankle in the eight inning and is day-to-day at this point.

In San Diego, Mike Piazza went 1-4 with an RBI in a losing cause for the Padres who lost 10-4 to The Rockies. Mike is hitting .200 on the season, with 3 hits in 15 at atbats including his Opening Day homerun. No word on when Mike Cameron will come off the DL.
